Diaries of the Paisley family 1864-1918.

The majority of the diaries were kept by John Paisley and Chloe Lippitt Paisley, and relate to life in Burlington, Iowa, and his experiences with the 10th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War. There are also diaries written by Mabel Paisley and Susan Lippitt Swan.

John Paisley was a professor of mathematics at Muskingum College in Ohio, before enlisting at the outbreak of the Civil War. He served in the 10th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry.
